The Marriage of Figaro Ballet Presented by Dubai Opera Dubai Opera opens its 10th Anniversary Season with a fresh take on a timeless favourite: The Marriage of Figaro, reimagined for the ballet stage by the internationally acclaimed Ukrainian National Ballet. Marking the 270th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, this interpretation brings his celebrated comic opera into a world of expressive movement, theatrical storytelling, and rich visual detail. With a libretto by Viktor Yaremenko and Yuri Stanishevsky, and a specially developed musical edition and composition by Oleksiy Baklan, the production gives the familiar story a distinct new rhythm while remaining rooted in Mozart’s beloved work. At its heart are Figaro and Susanna, a couple ready to marry, whose plans are threatened by Count Almaviva’s pursuit of the bride-to-be. What follows is a lively tangle of schemes, disguises, mistaken identities, unexpected revelations, and romantic twists, all unfolding within the elegant halls and gardens of the Count’s estate. Through expressive choreography, sumptuous costumes, and rich theatrical storytelling, the Ukrainian National Ballet brings every rivalry, surprise, and tender moment to life, accompanied by Mozart’s enduring music. As misunderstandings unravel, the story builds towards a joyful celebration of love, forgiveness, and new beginnings.
